Skincare 101
Understanding your skin is the first step to successfully helping your skin. First, WE ALL HAVE OIL. The imbalance is, how much of it is our skin able to retain? We all fall on different parts of the scale which is why there are 5 general subcategories called skin types.
Normal: Your skin doesn't fluctuate too much, it isn't oily or dry and if it is, it's only for a little. You don't require much maintenance and you don't really get blemishes (everyone wants to be you).
Dry: Your skin produces the least amount of sebum (oil). Sebum serves as a protective layer while simultaneously retaining moisture in the skin. Having less of it results in flaky, tight to red, and itchy skin, meaning you'll need more moisture.
Oily: Your skin produces an excess amount of sebum, usually a lot more when the body experiences a fluctuation in hormone levels.
Combination: Your skin is both dry and oily, normally dry on the cheeks and oily in the T-zone, but it varies from person to person.
Sensitive: Your skin reacts to products easily and quickly. Usually because of changes in temperature, certain ingredients, hormones and the sun.
However, it is important to note that our skin type can be affected by many things such as the environment, products you use, your diet and your genes. Since Bellurelle products are made to order and do not contain preservatives, shop for what your skin needs for the season.
How do I know?
Wash your face with a cleanser and leave it alone for 2 hours. Blot your skin with a napkin or blotting paper, where is it oily? Where is it dry? Is it oily all over? Only in the T-Zone? Relatively dry?
